Today I decided to do a deep dive into Temple Of The Dog because I only knew one song from them and the one song that I liked I enjoyed a lot, so I wanted to get to know them more as an artist.
“Hunger Strike” was the one song that I knew them, and it is also their most popular song. But, I listen to it a lot and it was the reason I did this deep dive. This song for me is easy to rate a 10.
I had never heard the next track before, but just by the intro, I was hooked already. “Your Savior” played next, and needless to say, I was so excited by the song because it was just that good. I rate it a 10 as well.
The third song that played was a live track, and sometimes, I am not very big on these, but I did happen to enjoy this song a lot. Titled “Reach Down”, this track shows that Temple Of The Dog is just as talented as live performers. I gave this song a 10 too.
“Say Hello To Heaven” was the next track that played on my deep dive. From the second I heard this song, I was obsessed with it. I have also decided that Temple Of The Dog may be my new favorite artist. I gave this song a 10 as well.
Believe it or not, the next song I listened to, I was not that big of a fan of. “Call Me A Dog” is a good song, but I do not believe that it is the best work that I have seen from Temple Of The Dog, so I did end up rating it a 7.
The sixth song that played was “Four Walled Worl” and I want it on the record that as I begin to know more and more about this band, I wish they had made more music. They are very talented, but this song again was not one of my favorites so I rated it a 6.
“All Night Thing”, just based on the intro, was very different than a lot of the songs that I had previously listened to from Temple Of The Dog, but I really liked it and this change brought me back to paying attention more to the music, a change is good. This song is a 10.
As for the intro, the one for “Wooden Jesus” also had me attached immediately. Similarly to “All Night Thing” it was different than what I usually expect from Temple Of The Dog, but I like variety, so I gave this song a 10 as well.
The ninth song that played was “Times Of Trouble”. This song did fit the mold of what I consider to be a typical song from Temple Of The Dog, and after having two tracks previously that drifted from that, this return was good. I rate this song a 9.
“Angel Of Fire” was the track that I ended this deep dive with, and although it was just a demo, I became obsessed with it immediately. I want the real version, but I did rate it a 9 as well because I wish the sound quality was better.
