Alex Murdaugh Trial Update (part two)

This is part 2 of my analysis of all that has happened in the Alex Murdaugh trial as it progresses, I also understand some of my material is older, but don’t worry, I am trying to catch up on my writing! This article is mainly about what happened over the first and second days of the trial that started on January 23rd.

Alex says that his son had been getting threats for months. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was getting threats after the boat crash. But, I would like to see evidence of this to make it true, I do fully believe that Alex killed his wife and son, but I would be interested to see evidence of these alleged threats. I also think that this is a very good defense on behalf of Alex’s defense team to blame everything on the boat crash because it does make it appear to be realistic that it would be a reason for their deaths.

Laura Rutland got on the stand on the second day of testimony, she was who was in charge of securing the scene. As for the shoe prints that were seen though, she believes that they were Maggie’s shoe prints. She also says that Alex did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol upon their arrival. In her testimony, she also says Alex said he went to the kennels because Paul was planting sunflowers, and Maggie loved being with the dogs. Alex also tries to blame the new hire, CB Rowe. Laura said when she saw when Alex went to go see his mother as for the time, she found it odd that he would visit her so late. She also mentions since there were no shoeprints by Paul, it was very unlikely that Alex checked for a pulse. She also said Paul’s clothes did appear to be incredibly clean. I think Laura Rutland, out of what I have seen out of the past two days of trial may be the most fascinating person, not only did we learn a lot from her, but she truly showed her perspective of everything at hand, like the evidence and how Alex Muraugh reacted through this situation in an incredibly professional manner which showed how incredible she is with her job. I enjoyed her.

The drone footage is made public. Personally, watching these freaks me out because I don’t like seeing where everything took place, it makes me feel so much sympathy for the victims when I see how they spent their last moments, and I know that especially in a situation like this one, they felt so much fear, it just starts to freak me out to a point where I can’t watch it. This is why I just write about crime, and not work in the field.

Agent Dalila Cirencione takes the stand. She took custody of a cellphone that was connected to the case. She also reveals that Alex’s clothes were taken to see if there was any evidence potentially on them. The guns that were used in the murder were taken from the property.  This was the last one of the first week of the trial, and with Dalila’s testimony, I feel like we got a lot more facts than anything, which I do not mind.

The Dashcam of Alex Murdaugh’s initial interview is released to the public. This interview is interesting because you get to see his raw emotion. He does seem to be in despair, but is this reaction from seeing two of the people he was closest to the dead, or is it because he knew he did it? I also, as the public has said, find the lack of tears in this incredibly weird, if I had found anyone in my family dead, yes I would be in shock, but I would be sobbing.
