Alex Murdaugh Trial Update (Part 6)

This trial has been of interest to me over the past few months, and if you see all the weird stuff that is happening, you would understand. As this trial progresses, I have continued to update you on what is happening. In this article, I am covering the rest of Britt Dove’s testimony as well as Brian Varndoe’s testimony. Both discussed a lot of different and interesting subjects so I enjoyed both testimonies a lot.

Evidence of Maggie’s phone with unread messages is presented. At 10:05 pm, Find My iPhone was used on Maggie’s phone. It is unclear what triggered it but Alex called the police at 10:06 pm. My thought would be that Alex triggered the Find My iPhone in hopes of finding his wife, then I do not know if he heard the sound or what exactly took place, but I think he went to where the phone was, then called 911.

Then we moved into Alex’s phone. The call log had calls removed, for example, the ones that he made to Maggie were not there. I think that this is so suspicious, why would you ever wipe your call log? Who cares who you call? I mean maybe if you brutally murdered your wife and son, then I could see why you would go through and remove everything from your phone. This, in my opinion, just makes him look even more guilty.

Then as for Paul’s phone, A call from Robert or Lucille Boyle was rejected, but there were two calls, both from Rogan Gibson, he answered. This seems to be a pretty common call log for a 22-year-old boy, but my question is, were any of the alleged threats he received digital? Because his dad claims that he received some, but I want to physically see evidence of these threats and I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t some message about it somewhere.

It is established that Paul’s last read text was 8:48:59 pm, and Maggie’s was 8:49:27 pm, 8 seconds later Rogan texted Paul, but it was never opened. This is beneficial for the investigators because it gives a potential time of death. If you correlate them to what Alex’s phone looked like, I believe that this will begin to answer some questions about what may have happened and if not, encourage that he is guilty.

As we dive into Paul’s phone, we learn a lot more than Maggie, he had location services always on from a lot of apps, like Snapchat, so we learned a lot more from his phone. Also, the camera was turned on for a minute at 8:44 pm but turned off at 8:45 pm. He also says that the phone remained in the same position until 10:34 pm when it died.  There is also a Snapchat video, recorded by Paul, where there are three distinct voices, his own, his mother's, and then another voice. When this information is released, Alex begins to cry.

Witness, Sgt. Dathan (Brian) Varndoe is brought to the stand. He was called to the scene the night of the crime. He was instructed to give Alex Murdaugh a gunshot residue test on his hands. He said nothing suspicious was found on Alex’s hands and then was released. Although there was not much to this testimony, I believe that what was discussed gave a lot of validation for the public and the jury that Alex was checked, but I do still believe that he is guilty.
