As this trial takes place for Alex Murdaugh, I am going to update you on what is going on as well as my opinion, please keep in mind, I am not professional with any of this, just a bitch with a lot of opinions.
Tinish Bryson-Smith, the manager for the dispatch calls for 911 in this county went on the stand. The jury listened to the 911 call from Alex Murdaugh, where he did sound distressed, in this call, he was asked if he murdered Maggie and Paul to which he said no. This would be a lie, or he would not be the incredibly guilty man that we have on trial right now. There is no way that you can convince me that he did not murder these two poor victims.
Angela Stallings, who is the Captain in Colleton County’s Sheriff's Office went on the stand, in the call you hear them ask if they may know who would’ve shot him, to which he replies no, and says he is going to grab a gun “just in case”. Angela did not have any cross-examination. I find this interesting because later in the testimony, he says his son had been receiving threats for months, I want to know why initially he did not bring this up.
Chief Barry McRoy who has been a paramedic since 1981 went on the stand. He went to the scene of the murders, and he describes the brutal scene that he saw when he arrived and that he knew the two victims were dead immediately upon his arrival. There were also tire tracks that paramedics attempted to preserve, but it was hard because there had been rain in the area. I find it so sad to be the paramedic and arrive at such a brutal scene like this one.
Jason Chapman went on the stand next, Although he did not have a body cam, he said that they covered the bodies, because it was known that there was a storm coming. He also states that Murdaugh did seem to be upset and that there was no blood or dirt on him. Though in his call to 911, Murdaugh said he checked for pulses, this was sense proved to not be true since there was no blood on him. He also reveals that there was a drone that captured the entire scene. He also found shoe impressions that went from one side of the hangar to the other.
Murdaguh’s wife texted her friend that Alex was “up to something” and then, hours later, she was dead. I think that this is interesting that her intuition even told her that something was up and then later appeared dead. I want this friend to appear on this trial because I want her insight into their relationship. After all, obviously, despite appearing to be a good one, there were toxic elements in the relationship, or Maggie would not be dead right now.
Murdaugh will not face the death penalty. I do not believe that this is a case where the death penalty would permit, not only will he be found guilty by the jury for these two murders, but with all of the other crimes he has committed, he will likely just die in jail. Which, in my opinion, is pretty brutal, so in this situation, I really would not push the death penalty, just life in prison will be fine by me.
Alex says that these murders were tied to the boat crash. As a defense, on behalf of his attorney, that makes perfect sense. It is the best thing to blame everything that is going on with the boat crash, even though I am fully convinced Alex killed them, the boat crash does make perfect sense as a defense because a lot of people were upset that Paul had gotten off with no punishment after what had happened.
