Everyone knows about my routine updates on Alex Murdaugh’s Trial at this rate. Here is one about everything that happened on 2/6, in the courtroom. I will continue to update you as we go through this trial. In this half of the two articles that I am releasing about this day, I am covering Mark Tinsley’s testimony, Ronnie Crosby’s testimony, the judge's ruling that financial crimes can be discussed, and Shelly Smith’s testimony. I will already give you all the heads up that I am going to break this up into two parts because it is easier for me to write like that. I know it is annoying but that is what is best for me and this is my blog after all.
Mark Tinsley was the first witness on the stand today. He represented the family of Mallry Beach when she died in the boat crash caused by Paul Murdaugh. He pushed for the Murdaugh family finances to be revealed because Alex said they could only afford to give the family $1 million because they were broke and Mark doubted that. I think Mark Tinsley was a blessing for doing this. Though I wish he had been in jail sooner for financial crimes to save the lives of Maggie and Paul, doing this, presented a reason for Alex to finally begin to be investigated.
Ronnie Crosby, who is a former law partner of Alex Murdaugh was next to take the stand. He said they discussed what Alex had potentially done. Ronnie’s testimony, in all honesty, I did not get much from, but I am glad that he made his appearance, I wanted him to be asked more about the financial stuff because he has to know a thing or two, but obviously, the time has passed for any of that to be done. I also want to know if there were any split cases like the one with Chris Wilson. But, we are stuck in the same dilemma that I just stated, it is too late to talk about that type of stuff now with him,
Shelly Smith is next to take the stand. She is the caregiver to Alex’s mother. She worked the night shift and said when Alex called the house phone, she found it late for him to be there. His mother had been in bed since 7:45 pm. She said he was fidgety and talked to his mother for about 20 minutes but she was asleep. She also said he had a small cut or bruise on his hand. Now, I loved Shelly’s testimony. She was one of the most real and insightful people that we have heard from so far. She gave us food for thought and I love that. I wish she had been questioned more too.
The judge rules that financial crimes can be used as evidence in this case. I think this is helpful because I do believe a lot of Alex’s motive for murder, in this case, was because Paul had exposed his financial state. I am beginning to think that Paul was his target, but Maggie just happened to be there so he had to kill wifey too. I wonder if Buster had been there if he would have died too. But, I could just be dramatic. I am very curious about what Alex’s motive truly was, and I guess we never will truly know, but maybe he will try to get out of debt by writing a tell-all book.
