For this article, I decided to write about some of the biggest moments by month in 2022. This has been a weird year, and even in the 12 days of this month, a lot has happened, so I will be reviewing some of my top events from every month.
January - Euphoria: I do not think I have ever seen such anticipation by people in general until the release of the second season of Euphoria. This HBO show which has stars like Zendaya and Jacob Elordi has become such a hit and the release of the 2nd season took over the internet. You could not go on a single social media platform without seeing all types of spoilers about the show.
February - Brittney Griner: The entire situation of Britney Griner being detained was upsetting for me because I do adore her as an athlete, but the part where Dennis Rodman threatened to go talk to Russia is the part that was so incredible for me. If anyone is going to vouch for Dennis Rodman, it is going to be me, I love that man. But, the idea of him saving the day just reminds me of Dave Skylark saving the U.S. in the interview.
March - Blac Chyna Child Support: The reason I wanted to include this scandal was because of the talk between Tyga and Rob Kardashian that ended in Tyga asking him to plug Rob with how he pays less. That made me laugh out loud. But it often appears when Blac Chyna because a little irrelevant again and her response is to post a scandal to the internet, which is exactly what she did here.
April - Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard Defamation Case: Again, another person I adore is Johnny Depp so the fact that this ended in a defamation case for him, makes me so sad. I also understand this lasted through June, but April was when everything began. Watching Johnny Depp remain quick and dry with his responses throughout this trial is what made this trial so funny to me as well as the general public.
May - The Kardashians: Although this show was released in April, the rise of the memes that came from it did not come out until May. One of the most famous ones was the sound on TikTok where Kris states “Kendall isn’t here right now because she just has the flu or something” and Kendall’s response is “actually I didn’t have the flu”. This went incredibly viral on TikTok and people loved this sound.
June - XXL Freshman Class: This month was the release of this year’s freshman class, some of them were stars like Nardo Wick, BIG30, and Big Scarr, but some of them seemed to be ones that were thankful for TikTok making their songs relevant like Doechii, Saucy Santana, and SoFaygo. This is common with Freshman classes, especially now where one song that ended up a hit gets them on a list, this is extremely prevalent with the rise of TikTok.
I do intend on making a part 2 of some of my favorite pop culture moments over the past year, let me know some of yours and I will give you my opinion of them these were just some of my favorites of this time but there are so many more.
