Eric Bland And The Alex Murdaugh Trial

If you even sort of checked out this trial, you know who Eric Bland is. He became incredibly well known for how he took down Alex Murdaugh throughout the trial for his double homicide. I researched him because I wanted to know more about him.

After the trial, Eric tweeted that he stated “not gloating because it is extremely sad. Karma is you know what. Justice won.” This tweet summarized perfectly everything that needed to be said about Alex Murdaugh and the outcome of his trial.

Eric Bland is a malpractice lawyer. He represented five different people who were done wrong by Alex Murdaugh, this being stealing money from his clients after their settlements. He was one of the top figures who brought Alex’s financial crimes to light.

Eric is also a cohost of the incredibly well-known podcast Cup Of Justice which also features Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell. If you have never checked this podcast out, I would recommend it. He is very interesting.

One strategy he used specifically against Alex Murdaugh which he is well known for doing is talking. He interviewed everyone to continue to bring light to this case and prevent it from going away. Alex was so scared by this technique, he went to put a gag order out against Eric but it was dismissed.

In fact, during the double homicide trial, Eric gave 178 interviews. This not only kept a spotlight on the Murdaugh trial, but it gave Eric a lot of fame, and he has gained a lot of support from doing all of these interviews.

In the interview that he did with The Philadelphia Inquirer, he said that he was in “shock and disbelief” when he saw how much money Alex had truly stolen. Even though he has sued over 250 lawyers, he had never seen someone who had stolen so much.

He also discussed that for the sake of this case, being an outsider was very beneficial for this case. Not having relationships with anyone involved in this case made it a lot less personal so that was very beneficial.

He discussed that growing up in Philly was very beneficial for him and his career. He learned how to not get bullied and pushed around by anyone and as a lawyer, that is an important skill to have.

Eric Bland was essential in this case and as we dive deeper into the financial crime trials of Alex Murdaugh, I am excited to continue to see him. Also, make sure you check out his podcast because it is a great one.
