I don’t know how you would not know this case as it is the talk of the internet, but four students at the University of Idaho were stabbed to death. This is a case that is not only heartbreaking but shocking, so I decided to analyze some parts of the case that are just way too weird. I could not cover all the bizarre aspects of this case and I also understand that the police are keeping parts of this case private, but I am fascinated by this case.
The first thing I want to consider is the knife itself. The knife that was used was known for dulling quickly, this attack was done with malicious intent, so why the use of a knife that dulled quickly but one that could also potentially injure the perpetrator? Any injury like the ones that would be from this knife would be easily identifiable so why would you use a knife that would take the anonymous aspect away from these murders? This also makes me consider, are the cops studying the hands of the people they are questioning. With this knowledge, it would simplify who the perpetrator is.
I understand that bloody homes, especially in an area like this, are incredibly uncommon but, it has been stated that this was the first time for a lot of cops on this first crime scene. This makes me question the ethics used to guarantee the best level of crime scene work. I believe the cops knew what to do, but a level of shock to walking into a scene like, this can throw off someone a lot. I would like to believe their best foot was put forward though.
Recently, the video of the white Hyundai Elantra passing the gas station has become known to the public. In a case like this, you examine who has that car in the area, but because this is a college town, you can run into the issue of several cars being from out of state, therefore records won’t show these cars, and from what I’ve seen in the video, there is nothing notable in this video like dents or stickers, making it harder to identify the owner of this car. Another problem, is several people in college allow their friends to borrow their car, so then the issue is presented on whether or not that was even their car. This doesn’t help with suspects at all. Though there is a McDonald’s nearby, which will have cameras too, video surveillance needs to be pulled as well.
One concept from this I find bizarre is that the families of the victims are receiving death threats. People need to keep in mind a lot of the information they are getting is circumstantial which does not mean it is perfectly right, and who is to say a TikTok theory is correct? People need to consider the feelings of the families of the victims and be more sensitive towards that because I believe a lot of these threats are weirdos who saw a singular post on a social media platform and then took it personally. This also goes for the content creators commenting on this tragedy, remember to remain sensitive to the families because they are struggling in a way that I would not wish upon anyone.
The recent news that has broken about the knife, the novelty of the police that was seen, and the camera footage are all interesting. But, it does concern me that we are thirty days into this investigation and there is no suspect in custody. But, I do believe a lot of this case is being kept quiet by the police because the case is bizarre. I have nothing but prayers for the families and friends of these victims, but I believe people need to remain alert because although the perpetrator probably had a personal motive, this is a very bizarre situation.
