So I found them because one of their songs came on as a song that I might be interested in. I loved it the second that I heard it. That is why they made my list of artists to do a deep dive into.
The first song I listened to when I started this was “Candy Coated Lies”. This was the first song I heard by them and I became obsessed with it immediately. It is one of my favorite songs right now. I rated it a 10.
“Teenage Runaways” was the next song that came on. I like the consistency in their music a lot. I think consistency is something hard to do because you have to fit a uniform vibe but be different. This track did a good job with that. I rated it a 10.
For three tracks to be so different, but carry the same vibe is super cool to me. I listened to “California’s Burning” next. I gave this song an 8 though because she kind of carried Halsey's energy with it and I can’t stand Halsey.
The fourth track that played was “Awful Ever After”. Honestly, if you look at the titles of these songs, you would expect the music to be cringe, but the music is so good. I ended up giving this song an 8 as well because I don’t like the title.
“June Gloom” is such a rad title for a song. This song is also good, I liked how they featured the guy’s voice more than they usually do because he is incredibly talented. I gave this song a 10.
Another title that disturbed me was next, but of course, I loved the song. “The King And Queen Of Gasoline was the next song that came on and I liked it. I appreciate the consistency of their music. I gave this song a 7 because of the title.
The seventh track that played had a different vibe than the other songs I had listened to but I also really liked it and I could see how it correlated with the other music that I had listened to so far. “Woozy” for me is an 8.
“I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I’M DEAD” played next. Not only did I like the title of this song, but I also loved the whole song. The vibe was different than what was channeled with previous music but was coherent. I rated this song a 10.
Their second most popular song played afterward, this song is titled “Glass Spiders”. I did enjoy this song, but I am shocked that this song is higher than some of the other songs I had listened to. Because I did still enjoy this song, I gave it a 9.
I ended my deep dive with the song “Bad Influence”. This was a good song, but I did not like this song as much as I had previous songs. It was good though, but I ended up rating it a 7 even though it was not my favorite.
My final rating of Hot Milk was 8.7. I am super shocked because this is one of the best ratings I have given, and although I liked the one track I had heard, I never know what to expect when I go in only knowing one song. But I like Hot Milk.
