Gwen Stefani

So instead of going for my usual rap/hip hop vibe for a music vibe, I took it back in time for Gwen Stefani. When she was big, I was very young but I was interested to dive more into her music as I am much older and can appreciate it better now.

I started with a classic, “The Sweet Escape”. This song features Akon and weird I know but I am a huge Akon fan so I was excited about this song. This is one of the most 2000s songs known to mankind, I had to rate it a 10.

The next song that came on was “Cool” but the Photek Remix version of it. I had never heard this song in my life but I decided to rate it an 8 because I enjoyed the mix between EDM and rock energy.

Afterward was “Baby Don’t Lie” which was another song of hers that I had never heard before. I got the pop energy that she was going for, but this just was not a good song at all, this led to me rating it a 3.

In perfect theme with the season, we hit a Christmas song. The one that came on was “Jingle Bells”. This happens to be one of my least favorite Christmas songs but I did enjoy Gwen’s version of it so I rated it a 7.

The next song that came on was “4 In The Morning”. This is a song from her Y2K era so I was very excited about it, but I did not enjoy the song so for my rating, I decided to go with a 5 for this track.

Another song from her Y2K era played afterward, the song is titled “Danger Zone” since this was another Y2K track, I was excited. This song gave No Doubt vibes and so my rating for it ended up being a 9.

An absolute classic came on next, the very famous “Luxurious”. I love this song and am so glad that TikTok also allowed it to make a comeback over the past year. The rating for this song was an easy 10.

Like it could not get any better, the next song that played was “Hollaback Girl”. This is another one of the most defining songs from my childhood as well as the music video. This was another easy 10.

The next song was also a remixed track. “Misery” played after, but the remix made by Divison 4 and Matt Consola, not just any remix, but the extended version. I did not know these two DJs but I liked this track a 9.

After this was another song from her Y2K era but I did not like it. The song is titled “Crash” but out of Gwen’s Y2K era, this song eas a miss. I ended up rating this song a 2 because I did not enjoy it.

At the end of this dive into Gwen’s music, I ended up giving her a 6.5. This rating is a lot lower than what I expected to get for Gwen, but in the songs that played I did not like, my rating of her may need a part 2.
