The AutoZone Liberty Bowl takes place at Simmon Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee. The two teams that played this year were Arkansas and Kansas. My pick for the win with this game went to Arkansas.
Arkansas was able to come out strong with this game. Cam Little was able to get a field goal on their behalf. But, Kansas’s Ky Thomas got a touchdown for their team putting them ahead in this game. But, Arkansas was not taking that, they responded with a touchdown on behalf of Matt Landers, then a touchdown by Ty Washington, and finally KJ Jefferson got a touchdown on their behalf giving them a strong first quarter.
AJ Green also led Arkansas into a strong beginning for their second quarter when he got a touchdown, but Kansas was able to answer with a touchdown on behalf of Mason Fairchild. This was an interesting second quarter compared to what we witnessed in the first one.
The third quarter was also divided. Arkansas came out by getting a touchdown on the behalf of Rashod Dubinson, but Kansas answered by getting a touchdown on the behalf of Ky Thomas. This was a lot different than my expected turnout of the game.
Kansas was able to dominate the fourth quarter with a field goal on behalf of Owen Piepergeredes and then they got a touchdown on behalf of Douglas Emilien. And then, Luke Grimm got a touchdown causing the game to be tied.
In the first overtime, KJ Jefferson got a touchdown on behalf of Arkansas, but Kansas responded with a touchdown on the behalf of Jalon Daniels, this did cause the game to go into a second overtime.
In the second overtime, KJ Jefferson got his third touchdown of the game, but Kansas then again was able to respond with a touchdown on behalf of Jalon Daniels, this being his second touchdown of the game causing the third overtime.
In the third overtime, KJ Jefferson was able to run for a 2-point conversion causing Arkansas to win the game. The outcome of this game was incredibly different than what I initially expected, I thought Akrnasas would dominate Kansas, but Kansas played a tough game.
